The history of Česká poisťovňa - Slovensko and Generali Poisťovňa

On October 1st 2008, Česká poisťovňa – Slovensko, joint-stock company, and Generali Poisťovňa, a. s., merged to form Generali Slovensko. The best experience of both insurance companies created a company which is one of the top three strongest insurance companies on the Slovak market.

History of Česká poisťovňa – Slovensko

1827 – Foundation of První česká vzájemní pojišťovna in Prague, on whose traditions Česká pojišťovna and Czech and Czechoslovak insurance are based.
1969 – Foundation of two independent institutions, Česká státní pojišťovna and Slovenská štátna poisťovňa, with independent spheres of activities on the territories of the relevant national republics.
1992 – Privatisation – creation of Česká pojišťovna, joint-stock company.
1993 – Division of ČSFR – decision by Česká pojišťovna to found a subsidiary in Slovakia called Česká poisťovňa – Slovensko.
1996 – Entry of the PPF financial group.
2000 – Realisation of the data administration digitalisation project.
2002 – Entry of Česká poisťovňa – Slovensko on the de-monopolised third party motor insurance market.
2003 – Česká poisťovňa – Slovensko reaches the third place on the market as a universal insurance company.
2004 – Launch of online insurance for compulsory third party motor insurance.
2005 – Launch of insurance by telephone on the Slovak market and buying up of part of the QBE insurance company related to life insurance.
2006 – Reward for the best product in Investment life insurance.
2007 –Zlatá minca reward for Dynamik and Slniečko life insurance policies which won first place in the categories Capital and Children’s life insurance. Launch of the unique dog insurance product.
2008 – Česká poisťovňa – Slovensko became part of the Generali PPF Holding group.

History of Generali poisťovňa

1831 – Foundation of Assicurazioni Generali in Trieste
1833 – Creation of six agencies of Assicurazioni Generali in Slovakia
1914 – Generali has branches in 14 Slovak towns.
1945 – Operations of Generali insurance in former Czechoslovakia brought to an end by the postwar political development and nationalisation of private insurance companies.
1996 – Foundation of Generali Poisťovňa, a. s.
2002 – Beginning of cooperation with VÚB, a. s.
2004 – Foundation of VÚB Generali dôchodková správcovská spoločnosť,, a. s.
2005 – Foundation of Generali Consulting, s.r.o., whose main subject of activity is insurance brokerage
2008 – Generali Poisťovňa a. s. became part of the Generali PPF Holding group.
